How we handle your file
The short version: we clean it, send it back, then delete it.
Used for one purpose
Your file is used only to run the checks you chose and return your clean file. We act on your instructions as a data processor.
No resale, no enrichment
We don’t keep your records in a shared database, sell or rent data, or use your lists for our own marketing.
30-day deletion
Your uploaded file and your clean file are deleted automatically 30 days after we deliver. Uploads that are never paid for are deleted after 30 days too. We keep the order summary (file name, counts, checks, price) for your records.
Encrypted in transit
The whole site runs over HTTPS. Stored files sit in a private folder that can’t be browsed, and only you and our team can download them.
Only what each check needs
Mobile numbers are checked on the live mobile networks and emails at the mailbox, through specialist providers. Only the number or email being checked is sent - never the rest of your record.
Registered with the ICO
CleanYourDatabase is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (registration ZC263749). Card payments go through Stripe - card details never reach our servers.

Does cleaning a list make it OK to contact?
No. Cleaning tells you which numbers and emails are live - not whether you’re allowed to contact them. You still need a lawful basis for holding and using the data, and consent where the rules require it.
Why remove dead numbers and bad emails?
Dead numbers waste agent time and SMS credit. Bouncing emails damage your sender reputation, so more of your good emails end up in spam. Keeping data accurate is also a basic data protection principle.
What about SMS and email marketing?
In the UK and many other countries, marketing texts and emails to individuals generally need their consent (or the “soft opt-in” for existing customers) and must give a simple way to opt out.
